Two new publications authored by our researchers

We are ending the first quarter of 2024 on a high note!
Our researchers have authored two new papers openly accessible to everyone online.

1. Salinisation of drinking water ponds and groundwater in coastal Bangladesh linked to tropical cyclones
In reclaimed lands along the Asian coast, access to clean water is a challenge and water salinity is a persisting problem. In this paper, authors show how cyclonic events can cause the widespread salinisation of surface water and groundwater bodies in coastal areas. The study has implications for coastal land use and water resources management in tropical deltas.

2. Pathways to a healthy net-zero future: report of the Lancet Pathfinder Commission
Actions focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions- consuming healthier diets, walking or cycling to work- could not just cut down carbon emissions, but also have health benefits. The Lancet Pathfinder Commission was established to collate and assess the evidence on the near-term health effects of greenhouse gas mitigation. This paper collates the evidence for different actions while also looking at factors that could facilitate or impede their uptake.
