The “Voices of Practice: A Series on Meaningful Community Engagement” is an initiative by the Community Engagement and Involvement (CEI) team of the NIHR Global Health Research Centre for Non-Communicable Diseases and Environmental Change and co-led by our Public Advisory Board to empower researchers and practitioners to integrate CEI principles into their work. Aligning with the centre’s goals of co-production, advocacy, and thought leadership, the series aims to create a space for learning, reflection, and dialogue to ensure research remains grounded in community realities and genuinely community owned.

Title: Advocacy in Action – Shaping Climate and Health Narratives for Change
Join us for the sixth session in this series with Ms. Shweta Narayan, an internationally recognised climate and health advocate associated with the Global Climate and Health Alliance, whose work brings a strong public health lens to climate action and accountability. With years of experience working across global health networks, civil society coalitions, and advocacy platforms, Shweta has been at the forefront of efforts to centre health in climate discourse and strengthen the role of health professionals and communities in climate action.
Her work bridges grassroots realities with global advocacy, highlighting how climate change is fundamentally a public health issue that requires collective action, strong evidence, and effective public engagement.
In this session, she will offer a practitioner’s perspective on what it takes to advocate effectively for health within climate spaces, how power and influence shape decisions, and how evidence is translated into action within complex policy environments.
