The NIHR-GHRC (NCD-EC) is a Centre of Excellence for high-quality, world-leading inter-disciplinary implementation research, research capacity strengthening and community engagement on the intersection of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and global environmental change in low- and middleincome countries (LMICs). It collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders and local communities to strengthen impact on advocacy, policy, and health equity outcomes.
The project aims to bring in a revolution in the lives of millions of people in Bangladesh, India and Indonesia by improving the water salinity levels, enhanced nutrition for communities and improving the air pollution levels. The intervention will have impact in the lives of other people too, as innovative, replicable and sustainable models shall evolve during our interventions.
After a successful one year of implementation, the project is celebrating its Annual Symposium in hybrid mode in Indonesia. It will see active and lively discussions around the centre’s activities, on mobilising communities for climate action and primary health care, the collaboration opportunities and discussions around external initiatives and community engagement strategies adopted elsewhere that can be replicated and scaled-up. We will convene experts in public health, climate change and community empowerment to discuss action-oriented steps for community mobilisation for climate action and primary health care.
